Railroad Oops!

Don't think the boss man was happy this day..

In the picture above you see what happens when a cross tie fails and crumbles under the weight of a passing train.
Two cars carrying rolls of paper proved to much for the old rail line and the ties failed causing the train to lean sharply and roll on it side.
Rolls of paper that wont making to the newspaper for printing..

The wheels have been set to the side by a crane. They will come back later and place them on the tracks and then put the cars back on them. They will then be taken back for repairs and placed back into service.
The railroad that leases this from Norfolk Southern Railroad is very bad about not keeping up the rail line. They have had numerous accidents and its just a matter of time before hazardous chemicals are involved...

While shooting the derailment area the local was working some freight on some nearby tracks a few blocks over. Here is a ES40, shuffling cars on a siding.
A couple of SD40's running a small freight, heading south, passes though..
